Con questo progetto 3dcgi abbiamo voluto rendere omaggio a una delle auto iconiche di casa Bugatti: la Bugatti Chiron! Presentata al pubblico in anteprima mondiale al Salone dell’automobile di Ginevra il 1º marzo 2016, deve il suo nome al pilota Louis Chiron.
Ma chi era Louis Chiron?
Nato a Monaco alla fine del 1800, Chiron è considerato uno dei pionieri delle gare automobilistiche e tra i piloti più forti del suo tempo. Ballerino professionista, è proprio al volante di una Bugatti che nel 1926 fa il suo debutto nel mondo delle corse automobilistiche, sua grande passione. Dobbiamo, però, aspettare un paio d’anni per vederlo raggiungere la sua prima vittoria: è nel 1928 che Louis raggiungerà il suo primo successo, vincendo il Gran Premio d’Italia. Da qui inizierà una carriera di successi, rallentata, però, dallo scoppio della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Terminerà la sua carriera alla fine degli anni ‘50 e ancora oggi è il pilota più anziano ad aver preso parte a un Gran Premio di F1.
Ma le curiosità non finiscono qui! Il 1º giugno 2018, infatti, è stata realizzata una versione Lego della Chiron composta da ben 3600 mattoncini. Impresa superata pochi mesi dopo quando è stata realizzata un’altra Bugatti Chiron, questa volta in scala 1:1, usando circa un milione di mattoncini Lego, di 339 tipologie differenti.
With this 3d project we wanted to pay homage to one of Bugatti’s iconic cars: the Bugatti Chiron! Presented to the public in a world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March 2016, it owes its name to the driver Louis Chiron.
But who was Louis Chiron?
Born in Monaco in the late 1800s, Chiron is considered one of the pioneers of motor racing and one of the strongest drivers of his time. A professional dancer, he is behind the wheel of a Bugatti that in 1926 made his debut in the world of car racing, a great passion of him. However, we have to wait a couple of years to see him achieve his first victory: it is in 1928 that Louis will achieve his first success, winning the Italian Grand Prix. From here began a successful career, slowed down, however, by the outbreak of the Second World War. He will end his career in the late 1950s and is still the oldest driver to have taken part in an F1 Grand Prix today.
But the curiosities don’t end there! On 1 June 2018, in fact, a Lego version of the Chiron was made, made up of 3600 bricks. This feat was overtaken a few months later when another Bugatti Chiron was built, this time in 1: 1 scale, using about a million Lego bricks, of 339 different types.
