Gold and Klimt
Impossible not to think of Klimt when looking at these images. And it is precisely his imagery that inspired us in making these photographs.
Founder in 1897 of the “Viennese Secession,” Gustav Klimt proposed a new style, combining painting, sculpture and architecture. To reach his golden age, however, we have to wait until the beginning of the next century, when, after a trip to Ravenna, he was thunderstruck by the splendor of its Byzantine mosaics. This was in 1903: “the gold mosaic, an echo of his father’s and brother’s work in goldsmithing, suggested to him a new way of transfiguring reality and modulating the flat and plastic parts with tonal transitions, from the opaque to the brilliant.” (from Wikipedia).
The use of gold thus becomes, no longer just ornament, but a tool and meaning capable of giving shape to the feelings of his time, through the recovery of the artistic styles of the past.
A unique and unmistakable artist, to whom we wanted to pay tribute through this series of portraits.

Gold and Klimt
Oro, oro e ancora oro: impossibile non pensare a Klimt guardando queste immagini. Ed è proprio a suo immaginario che ci siamo ispirati nel realizzare queste fotografie.
Fondatore nel 1897 della “Secessione Viennese”, Gustav Klimt propone uno stile nuovo, che unisce pittura, scultura e architettura. Per arrivare al suo periodo d’oro dobbiamo però aspettare l’inizio del secolo successivo, quando, dopo un viaggio a Ravenna, rimane folgorato daillo sfarzo dei suoi mosaici bizantini. Siamo nel 1903: “l’oro musivo, eco dei lavori del padre e del fratello in oreficeria, gli suggerì un nuovo modo di trasfigurare la realtà e modulare le parti piatte e plastiche con passaggi tonali, dall’opaco al brillante.” (da Wikipedia).
L’utilizzo dell’oro diventa quindi, non più solo ornamento, ma strumento e significato capace di dare forma ai sentimenti del suo tempo, attraverso il recupero degli stili artistici del passato.
Un artista unico e inconfondibile, a cui abbiamo voluto rendere omaggio attraverso questa serie di ritratti.
